Carpet Repair in Sydney: Burns, Holes, Pet Damage, and Stretching

Carpet Repair in Sydney: Burns, Holes, Pet Damage, and Stretching

Your Carpet Isn’t Ruined. It Needs a Repair, Not a Replacement.

A burn, a hole, a split seam, a wrinkle that reappears every few weeks — most people see carpet damage and assume the entire carpet needs to go. It usually doesn’t.

The damaged area is a small fraction of the total carpet. The rest is fine. Professional repair removes the damaged section and restores it — the room looks right again, and you don’t spend $2,500 to $5,000 replacing carpet that was mostly undamaged to begin with.

The reason replacement gets recommended so often is straightforward: carpet retailers sell carpet. Repair requires a different skill set, different equipment, and significantly more precision than installation. It’s not a service most companies offer, so most customers never hear it’s an option.

What We Repair

Burns and holes — cigarette burns, iron scorches, permanent stains, and impact holes. We remove the damaged fibre completely and install a matched patch using industrial thermal bonding. The patch is sourced from a hidden area of your existing carpet — inside a wardrobe, behind a door — so the dye lot, wear pattern, and pile density match the surrounding floor exactly.

Pet damage — cat scratches at doorways, dog chewing and digging. We repair the damage and reinforce the seams so the same area can withstand repeated stress. Repairs in high-traffic or high-risk zones are built to a higher durability standard than the original installation.

Wrinkles and bubbles — carpet that has lifted, rippled, or developed tripping hazards. We use industrial stretching equipment to re-tension the full carpet and re-secure it to baseboards and transitions. The wrinkle is gone and the carpet sits flat.

Seam failure — seams that have split or are separating due to traffic, moisture, or poor original installation. We re-bond using heat-fused reinforcement. The repaired seam is stronger than the original.

Carpet insect damage — holes and fibre loss from carpet beetles or moths. We assess the extent, treat the affected area, and patch any holes.

How an Invisible Repair Actually Works

The technical challenge in carpet repair isn’t filling a hole — it’s making the repair undetectable. There are four variables that determine whether a patch is visible.

Pile direction (nap) is the most commonly overlooked. Carpet fibres lean in one direction, and light reflects differently depending on which way they run. A patch installed with the nap going the wrong way looks like a different shade, even if the colour is identical. We examine the carpet before cutting anything.

Fibre density affects how the patch wears and how light reads across it. We source donor carpet with matching density so the transition disappears.

Colour and texture variation — carpet isn’t uniform. There are subtle tonal shifts and texture patterns across a roll. We source a donor section that includes the same variation, not just the base colour.

Bonding method determines how long the repair lasts. We use industrial thermal bonding rather than adhesive — it creates a permanent bond between the patch backing and the carpet backing. Adhesive-based repairs delaminate over time, particularly in areas with foot traffic or temperature change.

The donor carpet comes from your existing floor wherever possible — a wardrobe corner, under a fixed piece of furniture — because it has the same wear history as the damaged area. When that’s not possible, we source from the original supplier and show you samples for approval before proceeding.

The Repair Process

We start with a free on-site assessment — we examine the damage, determine the right repair approach, identify a donor source, and give you a fixed price and timeline. This usually takes about 15 minutes.

If donor carpet needs to be sourced externally, turnaround is typically two to five days. We show you the sample before scheduling the repair.

The repair itself covers removal of the damaged section, preparation of the subfloor or backing, installation, bonding, and reinforcement. Every repair carries a 12-month warranty — if the same repair fails within that period, we redo it at no cost.

Repair vs. Replacement: The Practical Comparison

A full carpet replacement for a single room in Sydney typically costs $2,500–$5,000, takes a week or more to coordinate, and requires clearing the room. If something damages the new carpet — a pet, a spill, another accident — you’re back at the same decision.

A professional repair costs significantly less, is completed in one to three days, and is permanent. The repaired area is built to the same durability standard as the original installation and won’t fail under normal use.

For rental properties specifically, the calculation is straightforward: the cost of a professional repair is almost always less than the bond deduction for documented damage. Repairs done before the final inspection resolve the issue; disputes after the fact involve a tribunal process with no guaranteed outcome.

Common Questions

Will I be able to see where you repaired my carpet?
No. Our repairs are invisible when done correctly. We match pile direction, fiber density, color, and texture exactly. Whether we're patching a burn or fixing a seam, the goal is a repair you can't find. We guarantee it.
How long do your repairs last?
Our repairs are permanent. We use industrial-grade bonding and reinforced techniques designed to last as long as the original carpet. Every repair comes with a 12-month warranty. Most last the life of the carpet.
Do you repair commercial carpets or just residential?
Both. We repair residential homes, rental properties, offices, hospitality venues, and retail spaces. Commercial carpet often sees more traffic and wear, so we tailor repairs for durability and performance.
What's the quickest way to get my carpet fixed?
Book a free assessment. We'll visit your home or business, evaluate the damage, and give you a fixed price and timeline. Most repairs take 1–3 days. Urgent repairs can sometimes be scheduled within 24 hours.
